About Me
Benjamin Laufer is currently a Graduate Teaching Assistant for UCF Bands. His responsibilities include instructing the Marching Knights Drumline, instructing a Percussion Skills class, and being a TA for a general music course.
Ben graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Political Science. In addition, he earned a certificate in Music Performance. While at Florida, he performed with the wind symphony, percussion ensemble, brass band, chorus, the Florida Gator Marching Band, and the new music ensemble. He has competed with ensembles through the University of Florida at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) and the North American Brass Band Association (NABBA) Championship. For the summers of 2024 and 2025, Ben has been a part of the Sandbox Percussion Semester. Throughout this experience, he worked with the members of the Grammy-nominated Percussion Quartet, Sandbox Percussion, and perform with other talented musicians from around the globe.
Ben is also heavily involved in the marching arts as a performer (formerly) and educator (currently). Ben marched tenor drums for Infinity 2 in 2022 and 2023, achieving a WGI Open Class Gold Medal in 2022. In DCI, he marched tenors for Spirit of Atlanta in the 2023 season. As an educator, he began as a tenor drum technician at his alma mater, North Fort Myers High School. Ben went on to instruct at many schools in the Gainesville area, including Gainesville High School, Buchholz High School, and P.K. Yonge High School. Outside of instructing high schools, Ben has been on the tenor staff for Infinity 3 Percussion and River City Rhythm Drum and Bugle Corps.
